Help for depression, anxiety, substance abuse, pain, mental health problems
Good
emotional health is essential to a person’s physical well being.
When severe emotional or behavioral problems impair one’s daily activities
and mental wellness, intensive outpatient psychiatric care can help.
A spectrum of care
St.
Joseph Outpatient Behavioral Health Services (OBHS), located in Santa
Rosa, offers individuals with an acute mental illness assistance in learning new and
more effective ways to cope with the challenges they face in their daily
lives.
We offer two levels of outpatient treatment programming, partial
hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment. Specialty tracks
include dual diagnosis (substance abuse with mental illness), chronic
pain and senior acute behavioral care
Our goal
is to restore hope, happiness and productivity to the lives of those we
care for. Each of our intensive, multidisciplinary programs provides a
supportive environment where clients acquire the skills and resources
necessary to enhance their quality of life and gain maximum functional
independence.
Partial hospital program — Making the transition
The Partial Hospital Program offers comprehensive, intensive treatment
for clients who are either transitioning from an inpatient level of care,
or those who need more structure than traditional outpatient therapy can
provide.
Our multidisciplinary
team provides treatment in a caring and comfortable environment during
the day, enabling clients to return to their homes and families each night.
Highly structured, goal-oriented treatment is provided six hours per day,
three to five days a week (M-F).
Intensive outpatient treatment — Building new skills for wellness
Intensive Outpatient Treatment is designed to reduce symptoms of mental
illness and further improve functioning. This program provides support
for clients who have been stabilized, but still need comprehensive, therapeutic
treatment and skill building.
Individual
treatment planning, psychiatric evaluation, multidisciplinary treatment
and discharge planning are provided. The intensive outpatient program
is offered three to four hours per day, one to three days a week.
Dual diagnosis — Breaking the cycle of addiction / substance abuse
We provide care for acutely mentally ill clients who may also have issues
with alcohol or substance abuse. The program includes individual, group
and family therapy, addiction and mental illness education, behavior modification,
goal setting, coping techniques, relapse prevention strategies, 12-step
programs and other treatment methods to support clients in the recovery
process.
Chronic pain — Finding inner peace
The Chronic Pain Program focuses on reducing the impact of chronic pain
and disabling illness on the lives of clients and their families. The
interdisciplinary care team includes specialists in medicine, psychology,
occupational therapy, social work, substance abuse and family therapy.
The team
works with each client to create an individualized care plan. Treatment
may include individual and family therapy, education, coping skills, stress reduction and art therapy.
Senior acute behavioral care — The special needs of older adults
It is not uncommon for older adults to develop mental health complications.
Declining physical health, the loss of a spouse or lifelong friends, the
stress of a changing lifestyle and the side effects of medication are
just a few of the causes of depression and other acute behavioral disorders
among seniors. Research shows that nearly one-fourth of all attempted
suicides are by older adults.
We provide a comprehensive program tailored to the unique needs of
mentally ill seniors and their families. The program is intense,
focused, and challenges seniors to be actively involved in their
treatment. The Senior Program is offered three to four hours a day, up
to four days a week (schedule varies by location). Lunch is provided.
Clinical staff — A treatment team that cares
Our most valuable resource is our caring staff of healthcare professionals

the patient's personal goals into the treatment program using the specialized
skills of clinical experts who work closely together as a multidisciplinary
