Level II Trauma Center Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital

Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital was designated as a Trauma Center in May 2000. It is the only Level II Trauma Center serving the Coastal Valley region that includes Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino Counties. Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital is an ACS verified Level II Trauma Center that also provides care to patients from Lake, Humboldt and Marin Counties. The trauma center provides specialty care including general-vascular surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, ENT, maxiollofacial, urology and rehabilitation services 24-hours a day.

A highly trained staff provides the level of care required to treat critically injured patients. From pre-hospital through rehabilitation, Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital’s Trauma Center provides quality care that enables victims to recover and return to their communities.

Memorial Emergency Department

Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital is a 14 bed, full service emergency department caring for approximately 30,000 per year. The highly trained staff cares for a wide variety of acutely ill and injured patients including the specialized Trauma patient. Physician and nurses are available 24 hours a day providing expert emergency care for adults and children. We serve as the only base station for Sonoma County providing medical direction when needed to paramedics. A helipad is available for easy access or transfer for all emergency conditions.

Petaluma Valley Emergency Department

Petaluma Valley Hospital's Emergency Department is a full service department, caring for a wide variety of acutely ill and injured patients. Petaluma offers outstanding emergency and urgent care with minimal wait times. The highly trained staff provides adult and pediatric care in a well-designed modern department. A helipad is available for all emergency conditions requiring transfer into or out of the hospital.

Injury Prevention Programs

Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital’s Trauma Center participates in the following Trauma Injury Prevention programs:

The G.I.F.T. (Gun Violence Information for Teams) program is a gun-violence awareness prevention program for teens designed to educate students about the legal, medical, and emotional consequences of youth gun possession and related gun violence. The program has been presented to over 4,200 students over the last three years.

The St. Joseph Health System is one of many organizations that sponsors “Every 15 Minutes,” the anti-drunk driving campaign where fatal accidents are simulated before hundreds of high school students. The program was born in the early 1990’s when statistics showed a teenager was killed every 15 minutes in the United States as a result of an alcohol related car crash. Statistics have shown that the time has increased to every 17 minutes.
